External Linear Actuator, Design Modification

Affected Products: All External Linear Actuators
Effective Date: Q1 – 2020
Device Identification: All standard and custom external linear actuators sold by Schneider Electric Motion USA (SEM). This includes Lexium MDrive (LMD), MDrive, and motor-only external linear actuators. Figure 1, attached, represents a typical external linear actuator.

 

Description & Purpose: SEM has changed the design methodology for the motor insert which holds the linear screw in external linear actuators. The new insert design will result in a visible product change with the addition of a hexagonal feature within the motor centering collar. The hexagonal feature will not extend past the current motor centering collar height. This design change is being implemented to improve manufacturability of the product and will not affect product performance.

 

Recommended Action: Please review any applications of external linear actuators sold by SEM to ensure there will be no impact to system operation upon implementation of this design modification.

Lexium MDrive, Programmable Motion and Ethernet, Firmware Update

Effective Date: July 31, 2019

Device Identification: Products with serial numbers containing 212 or lower as the first three characters and 19 as the fourth and fifth character. Additionally, any affected products with the numbers 18 or lower as the fourth and fifth character. Example: 36419XXXX is not affected by this notice, while 01519XXXX and 30018XXXX are affected.

Description & Purpose: Schneider Electric Motion USA (SEM) has issued an update to open loop and closed loop Programmable Motion and Ethernet Lexium MDrive products utilizing firmware version 6.012. This change includes general updates and bug fixes. There is no known impact to product’s form, fit, or function; however, users should evaluate these changes in their systems. SEM recommends any units currently in the field be updated to the latest revision of the firmware.

Absolute MDrive Firmware Update from V7.001 to V7.002

Effective Date: December 6, 2018

This change was implemented to improve manufacturability of the product and there is no known impact to field operation of the product. This change will not affect the product’s form, fit, or function. SEM recommends any units currently in the field be updated to the latest revision of the firmware.

New, unpainted end-bell on the left
New, unpainted end-bell on the left
LMD NEMA 23 & 34 products are changing to unpainted motor end bells, where currently they are painted black. While this may appear as a cosmetic change, it serves a more important role in ensuring greater electrical contact for the products during assembly. This change has no effect on product form, fit or function.
